Homecoming T-Shirts
Special edition t-shirts have been created to commensurate this year’s homecoming theme: Rhythms of Carnaval. T-shirts are available for pre-order only now through Sunday, September 13th and will be delivered to scholars by Thursday, October 1st so that they may be worn on Friday, October 2nd. Since these homecoming shirts are highlighting a GHLS celebration, they may be worn on future spirit day Fridays.

Homecoming Mums/Garters
Parents, if your high schooler would like to purchase a mum or garter for Homecoming, the official Mum Store is now open. All orders must be placed on the website below by September 25th, 2026. Orders will be delivered to the school to be picked up from Ms. Bettis’ office (Rm 147) on Wednesday, September 30th during dismissal. Mums / garters may be worn all day at school on Friday, October 2nd.

Please note that these are the only mums and garters that will be allowed at Homecoming; no changes nor additions will be allowed. Also, 15% of proceeds will go towards future senior events.
Homecoming Week Dress-up Days
As we continue growing our high school, we look to the wisdom of the past that forms our curriculum as well as to the future with great anticipation of where our great-hearted scholars will go!
Please note the standard for all dress-up days: Costumes must always cover the same parts of the body as the unform and be free from pop-culture references. No spandex/leggings/tennis skirts/crocs/house shoes. If your scholar does not want to participate in the theme for the day, he or she must wear his or her uniform. It is not a free dress week.
Monday, September 28th – Birds of a Feather Flock Together Day
Grab some friends and find a way to dress alike head-to-toe! Remember, no pop culture.
Tuesday, September 29th – Tropical Tuesday
Dress in your favorite tropical or Hawaiian gear! Think floral prints, flowers leis, sun hats & Hawaiian shirts. Swimsuits not allowed and sunscreen not required.
Wednesday, September 30th – Neon Accessories Day
Gather all those neon accessories and add them to your uniform to make the day extra bright! Some ideas include: necklaces, bracelets, earrings, socks, headbands, ties, belts, shoelaces, etc. (Full uniform still required.)
Thursday, October 1st – Storybook Character Accessories Day
Add your favorite storybook character accessories to your GHLS uniform! Think a cape & feathered hat from “The Three Musketeers”, a deerstalker hat & magnifying glass from “Sherlock Holmes”, or braids & a bonnet from “Little House on the Prairie,” just to name a few. Pick your favorite storybook character and get creative with adding the accessories to your uniform. (Full uniform still required.)
Friday, October 2nd – Homecoming Spirit Day
Time to show your Homecoming Spirit by wearing this year’s themed t-shirt with your uniform bottoms. For those not purchasing the Homecoming themed t-shirt, house shirts or spirit wear from the Lion Shop is also acceptable.

Friday Homecoming games will be White Out games! Any guests wearing White will be able to gain entry for only $1!
Homecoming Dance
All GHLS freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are invited to attend this year’s homecoming dance: Rhythms of Carnaval. The dance will take place on Saturday, October 3rd from 7:30-10:00pm at the Upper School Gym. Our high school scholars should dress for the occasion in semi-formal attire.
Dress Code
Gentlemen should wear dress slacks (no jeans or patched pocket pants), a dress shirt, and tie. Ladies should wear modest-length skirts or dresses (no shorter than fingertip length). Tops should not be strapless or bare the midriff; spaghetti straps are allowed. Necklines should be no lower than 4 finger-widths below the collarbone. Hair should be styled appropriately for the occasion. Scholars out of dress code will be asked to wear a provided shawl, tie, or asked to change at home and return.
